There are a number of Web2.0 properties out there where you are allowed to create a blog to share information and then recommend products that would be suitable for your audience. So, why would you need to spend money while you are getting started to purchase your own domain name?

Yes, you do need to buy a domain. If you have your own domain name and then host your blog on your own server, it belongs to YOU.  That mostly means that if someone doesn’t like your blog (for whatever reason), they can’t shut it down like the web2.0 property owners can.  They are sites like Squidoo, Hub Pages, Blogger, etc., and there are many many more.  Don’t get me wrong, you will learn that you also need to spend time creating Squidoo lenses, Hub pages or whatever to support your main site and we’ll get to that later.

Choosing a webhost can be daunting especially if you’re just starting out and have no idea what it even means. Wikipedia had the following description:

A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their own website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own or lease for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for servers they do not own to be located in their data center, called colocation.

How do you get traffic? If you want your soon-to-be created website to be found once it is up and running, you need visitors. SEO or search engine optimization is the way to get them. Without visitors you cannot share your ideas, disseminate information, or make any money. The beginning of SEO is keyword research. What do you have to offer that people will be searching online for? If you were going to be searching for your information or product, what would you put in the Google search box?

Sounds easy, right? Just think of what you would be looking for yourself. Unfortunately, we don’t all think exactly alike. Also, you want to be putting something out there that you are positive others are looking for. There are all kinds of tools and methods available and the technical gurus keep coming up with new ones.

When I decided to start working online and had no idea how to create a webpage, I heard about WordPress as being the best option.  At that time I had no idea why or how to create a wordpress page.

You may have the same confusion as people talk about what “contact manager” to use or what “platform” to use.  There are others to choose from such as Droopla, Joomla, and more but WordPress is certainly more popular and I now believe the easiest to learn.  Also in the past few years WordPress has improved their content management system to make it even easier for a new person to use as their open source blog publishing application.

Because of its popularity, there are now many training programs both free and very low cost for learning how to use WordPress effectively.  It is important to know at this point that there are TWO wordpress systems.  One is WordPress.com and the other is WordPress.org.

What is the difference you ask?  Well, when you use WordPress.com, you do not have to purchase a domain name or provide hosting as WordPress.com does that for you.  The downside in using WordPress.com is that you do NOT own your site and can be shut down at any moment and not even know why.  When you have spent hours creating your site, you definitely don’t want to have it disappear.  WordPress.org on the other hand required that you buy your domain name and host your site on your own hosting account as I explained in a previous post.

Yesterday I began a discussion of website creation and suggested WordPress as the choice platform for an easy to create and modify site.  Even though I believe WordPress is the easiest platform, it still requires a bit of expertise especially for the new online marketer.

I am going to review a  program that does a really great job of explaining every little detail of using WordPress and as you can guess by the title, it is called “WordPress Bootcamp.”  There are 48 videos plus another 5 or 6 Bonuses.  These videos go from Organization to complete installation and customization, security, adding videos and music, creating sales pages, and so much more.  My life would have been much easier if I had access to this program when I started.

So…. you say, how much does it cost?  Well how does $12.97 sound?  It may seem like too much material to work through but it is divided up into such small bites that you can learn at your own pace doing just one or two of the videos a day.

Yes, Give me WordPress Bootcamp plus all the bonuses to start right now!
